Question: I have done AMIE in MECHANICAL engineering branch(year 1991) and then MBA in IT management through distance mode in the year 2008. Now, what should be my future course of action for becoming CEO/COO or senior managerial position. I am having 15+ years of executive experience in PSU. Will a futher acquiring of PHD from reputed business school will give boost to my career.
Answer: The CEO is the Chief Executive Officer and oversees all aspects of the of the corporation. A good CEO not only help direct the company, but also create a system where the company can thrive internally as well.

As far as eligibility and qualifications goes, it depends on the corporation that hires them. In general, vast experience, networking, and great leadership abilities are a given must aside from the obvious things like skills and talents.

To be a CEO of a large company, you need to understand law, finance, accounting, human resources management, etc. Even though you'll have experts working for you.

While some people can rise based on smarts (rather than education), most will have an MBA, other advanced business degree, or an advanced degree in the field (e.g., if it's an engineering company, the CEO might be someone with a PhD in engineering).

All the best
