Subject: About MBA studies

Question: sir,

I'm an engg graduate & want to do MBA through correspondence or part time, which would be better? also i heard doing MBA through distance education will not get u the credentials as compared to regular one. Is this really true? If so what to do? I'm not in a position to get it through regular course. Would really an part time MBA add any value to my CV? How companies look about this MBA? I'M REALLY CONFUSED,plz help me out.

Answer: As far as MBA is concerned obviously MBA regular is important but it doesn’t mean correspondence has no value. Those people working with any organization they can’t think about regular but he or she still wondering to get promotion therefore he or she has to do something more. Correspondence course doesn’t give clear picture but it gives a certificate which is more important for our modern life and it definitely adds value to your CV. The one potential advantage of distance learning MBA degree is time and location flexibility. The method removes all the barriers pertaining to physical presence, time and geographical location.

Regular MBA colleges are good when group discussion, classmates, oral communication and visual contact comes into picture.Distance learning MBA have no oral communication, visual contact and deadlines. Lack of oral communication and visual contact leaves a person confused at some stage when there is something that he or she does not understands.

Distance learning courses can come handy for professionals in job, handicapped people, students in remote area not able to attend regular classes.

One leading advantage of Regular MBA is Availability of campus recruitment and placement which is unavailable to students pursuing distance MBA.

If you want an MBA degree through distance learning then options are

  1. Indian Institute of Commerce and Trade (IICT), Lucknow
  2. The ICFAI Centre for Distance Education
  3. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai
  4. Indira Gandhi National Open University
  5. Annamalai University, Directorate of Distance Education
These institutes provide degrees and diplomas. But to get the degree from here you need to show some work experience.

So I would suggest you to gather some work experience first and then join an MBA course. That would be better for you. Work for 3 years, gain some work experience and money and join either full time (most preferable), Part time (next preference) or Distance Learning (last in the order of preference and value you get from MBA)

All the best
