Question: i am a 40 year old lady with an M.A.(Pol.Science)degree.. i want to apply for mass communication..so can you please suggest other relevant information...such as age limit for application, places to apply for..etc..etc....

also please suggest other career scope which will be suitable as per my qualification.....

Answer: Mass Communication means communicating to the masses, relaying the information to the masses through different modes. The choice of the media selected for broadcasting the message is very important. The chosen media should have the ability to put the point in front of a large section of society instead of catering to just one individual, simply speaking it must have mass appeal The information to be relayed can take different forms. It can be purely newsy or entertaining. It can also take the form of infotainment.

There are number of mediums available today to transmit the information and each medium has its own merits. Print, Television and radio are some of the medium through which one can connect with the masses instantly. Internet is another medium which has gained huge popularity in recent years, though the new media is a young medium, it is gradually overtaking other mediums.

Various branches of mass communication:

Advertising: The study of tools and techniques for brand-building through effective communication.

Club Disc Jockey: The art of selection s and playing of music for an intended audience usually in a club-setting.

Journalism : The core purpose of journalism is to inform, educate and enlighten the masses on various issues revolving them.

Film-Making : Study of skills used in acting, directing, producing, script writing, cinematography, sound recording, visual mixing and editing etc.

Publishing & Printing : Study of scientific methods used in printing and publishing industry.

Public Relations : Important executive who looks after the public image of the organization.

Radio Jockeying : Profession involving conducting radio programmes on various topics for the masses.

Video Editing : Training in tools and techniques in various process of re-arrangement and modification of the video forms.
